It’s not easy in today’s world to find a place where someone can ‘be themselves’ while growing in faith and good values, developing positive and life-long relationships, and making a difference by helping those in need locally and globally.
We who are the Waretown United Methodist Church are striving to be the cornerstone of faith and fellowship in our communities. The idea of a ‘cornerstone’ has deep roots in Biblical imagery as well as common practical notions of building. Simply put, the cornerstone is that foundational piece which defines and supports the whole structure. We are striving to be that place where individuals and families of all backgrounds can build their faith in God and love for neighbor.
But wait… there’s more!
In 2011 we joined together with Barnegat Anew, a United Methodist new church plant serving the Barnegat NJ community. You may have never heard of a ‘new church plant’ before, and no it is not a newly discovered flower or tree. It’s a NEW FAITH COMMUNITY, a new gathering of people, starting NEW places and ways for people to meet God, grow in faith, build relationships, and serve the needs of others.
Together, under the official name of the Waretown United Methodist Church, we are on a mission: “To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world by starting new places of faith”. A new ‘place’ of faith can be any number of things: a new Bible study class, a new worship celebration gathering, a new group starting a soup kitchen, a new exercise class to help folks get and stay fit, are just a few examples. Our simple rule is that if we can dream it and it will build faith in God in Jesus Christ… then it is part of our vision and mission!
During this exciting time of growth and expansion we are inviting passionate people to dream and vision along with God (and with us) in building our faith community. Check out the opportunities we have available… or bring your own!
