A Single Step

“We dream about the incredible opportunities we have to influence the world for God’s purpose. We know that through God’s Spirit we can make lasting contributions that benefit the well-being of others. But having a dream and having the disciplined, lifelong dedication to realize that dream are two different things. It is easy to make a commitment, but keeping that commitment is another matter”. (Mike Slaughter, Momentum for Life, p.4)

In theory…  all of us WANT to succeed: be the best we can be, make a difference in the world, etc., but so many of us never do because we can’t get motivated to build momentum in the right direction. Instead, we settle for our failures…   we have health problems, faith problems, relationship problems, professional problems, and we don’t hold fast to a commitment to be the best.

A big part of this failure is that we haven’t mobilized FAITH in our lives. We try and make it on our own knowledge, our own assumptions, our own limited perspective. But, when we open ourselves up to the fact that GOD has something great in store for us…   that God has actually crafted and positioned us to do something unique and extraordinary…   we are able to fight harder, last longer, and stay stronger in the face of all the temptations that influence us to abandon commitment and discipline.

How do we get that kind of faith? Well, it doesn’t come easy, but like anything worthwhile, it starts with a single step. If you are reading this then maybe, just maybe, God has a plan for your life right now! Explore it!

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for…   and certain of what we do not see [yet] (Hebrews 11:1)
