Ash Wednesday begins the season of Lent. A time of spiritual reflection, deeper commitment, and preparation for the joy of the Good News of Jesus Christ celebrated on Easter.
It’s a tough road. When we reflect spiritually we might feel lost or ashamed as we remember all the mistakes we have made. When we make a deeper faith commitment we have to overcome the fear and doubt that keeps us saying… I’m not good enough, or why would God want to work in and through my life.
The Good News is that God so loved the world that God gave his only Son. He worked and served and taught and confronted and then was betrayed, tortured, and executed. Then on Easter morning he rose to new, eternal life… proving that God loves us unconditionally and has the same in store for us.
Whatever mistakes we are suffering with… God will work in our lives in spite of them. Let’s keep an eye open this season to the conversions God wants to initiate in our lives!
