This is the last countdown to Christmas. (Yes… I am repeating myself from yesterday). Each day until Christmas I will post part of the Christmas story as recorded in Scripture.
Many of us know (somewhere deep in the back of our minds) that God’s great promise in the coming of the messiah (who was Jesus of Nazareth… the title ‘Christ’ was not his last name 🙂 but the title of messiah in Greek) is the reason for the season. But, it is easy to forget in all the other things going on.
So, as a discipline (and a treat I hope!) I am going to use this blog for the next few days to simply offer the story as it is told in the Scripture. Let’s take the time to read it (and without my chattering) and let God Renew our hope:
Joseph also went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was descended from the house and family of David. He went to be registered with Mary, to whom he was engaged and who was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.
