Fulfilled

Everyone’s looking for something.

OK…   not just ‘something’…   everyone is looking for that deep fullness that brings contentment to our lives. The list is long of wrong ways we seek to be ‘filled’: substances, habits, ego-trips, money, sex, etc., etc. etc.

So, the ‘Fearless Question’ this week is: Is Jesus REALLY all I need?

This isn’t a question that is answered from an armchair or from a sound-byte…   the Christian faith has got to be engaged in a meaningful way day after day in order for an answer to emerge.

Our Scripture story this week is John 4:1-42. It is the story of a chance meeting between Jesus and a woman whom has been searching and questioning in her life. Like many of us, she initially treats Jesus as if what he has to offer is a joke…   but soon realizes that she has stumbled upon the real deal. Jesus inspires her with words that point to a life fulfillment that she can’t get (and we can’t get) anywhere else:

“Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but those who drink of the water that I will give them will never be thirsty. The water that I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life.” (John 4:13-14)

If you have felt like you are just on the treadmill of living…   where each thing may bring a momet of fullness, but not a lasting contentment…   then we invite you to read this story and to get involved in the faith community that is Waretown/Barnegat Anew. We are living as if Jesus IS all we need.

Come and see! This will be the focus of our Sunday celebration this coming week. In fact, you can be a par of the discussion right here on this blog, or on or facebook page.
