It’s a new year… time to get rid of that big ‘but’.
I WISH I made up that phrase… but it belongs to Mike Slaughter (United Methodist pastor and author of Momentum for Life among other books).
Get rid of that big ‘BUT’… you know… BUT I’m too… young, old, tired, busy, sick, out of shape, undisciplined, set in my ways, far gone, guilty, untrustworthy, trapped, sapped, crapped… and the list goes on.
‘Momentum for Life’ means kickstarting your life… putting it in drive… and moving to bigger, better places. This doesn’t happen by accident… and it doesn’t happen without hard work. But, for any of us who are just tired of the same problems, mistakes, and stumbling blocks… it’s time to get movin’ in 2011. Paul says in his letter to the Corinthian Church:
Do you not know that in a race the runners all compete, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win it. Athletes exercise self-control in all things; they do it to receive a perishable prize, but we an imperishable one.
The life of faith is NOT separate from the rest of our lives. When we commit to change for the better and pour our hearts and souls and minds into it… great things happen.
Join Barnegat Anew and Waretown UMC each Thursday in January for Momentum for Lifediscussion groups (11am and 6pm) at Waretown UMC Campus: 27 Bryant Road in Waretown. We will also be exploring the Momentum for Life theme on Sunday mornings at 9am (Traditional Church Service) and 11am (Contemporary Celebration)
