God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7)
All week we’ve been talking about money and how it is a tool and not a treasure, and how it is dangerous when it becomes the center of our life and attention. But, there is an another side to money: GIVING it.
All over the world there are great churches and organizations with noble and worthy goals making the world a better place… and it takes money (our money) to make that happen.
All throughout the Bible we learn that God has created us to be givers. In fact, as we give we grow spiritually because we learn the value of giving and serving rather that being self-centered.
Giving is probably the hardest spiritual practice as well. Reports suggest that ‘giving’ money is one of the last practices committed Christians take up… but it remains one of the most important.
