As if it wasn’t hard enough to keep ourselves on the ‘straight and narrow’… we’ve also got to worry about not leading others ‘astray’.
Yeah… you know it and I know it. Sometimes, our choices, our lifestyle, our words, our example, our leadership, our parenting, our friendship and other things influence those around us… those who trust us. We hate to hear it, but we are always setting an example for someone. We are always influencing someone.
Jesus took that seriously when he taught (In Luke 17:1-2):
Occasions for stumbling are bound to come, but woe to anyone by whom they come! It would be better for you if a millstone were hung around your neck and you were thrown into the sea than for you to cause one of these little ones to stumble.
Sometimes the best message is the simple one… let’s be careful with those who look to us for guidance. We know who they are.
Their future will be better for it!
