I Don’t Know… But God Does!

Tomorrow we have two really exciting things happening at the Waretown/Barnegat Anew Church (everyone should come by at the 11:00am worship/celebration…   27 Bryant Road Waretown).

First, we have the Baptism of two children who are growing up in our faith community. Baptism, in the life of the church, is a very special way in which God promises to be with us. Through Baptism we are invited into God’s family, invited into the church family, ‘cleaned’ and ‘renewed’ by God forgiveness in Christ, and promised the partnership of God’s Spirit throughout our lives and faith. Baptism is something done with the whole church involved…   the people being baptized, their parents and family, and the church congregation are asked to step-up and step-out into the lifelong journey of growing in faith, supporting each other, and following God.

Second, we have the commissioning of our Mission Team to Appalachia Kentucky. During this time of prayer we will thank God for the people who have stepped-up and stepped-ou to serve others in the name of Jesus Christ. This team will be going to one of the most poverty-stricken regions in the USA in order to help rebuild homes and communities.

Both of these events require PARTICIPATION on the part of God and on the part of people. That’s exactly how God has planned the world and our lives…   that we would be full partners with God.

“Those who love me will keep my word, and my Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words; and the word that you hear is not mine, but is from the Father who sent me.”I have said these things to you while I am still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid. (John 14:23-27)

When we are courageous enough to love God and one another…   the opportunity for a full life is presented to us. We may not know exactly where all the roads will lead…   But God does.
