In it to Win it

We all know the quote from the lottery: “you gotta be in it to win it”.

Well, that’s true on so many levels. When it comes to joy in life we have to be able to see and hear what God is doing around us. The trouble is that, so often, we are so blinded and blocked by the cares of the world to see or hear anything except that ‘next thing’ we have to do.

Sticking with the prophecy of Isaiah (35:5 today) we read that God will make the blind see and the deaf hear. Sure, this will (and does!) happen literally, but just as important are those of us who are, by the busy-ness and cares of the world, effectively blind and deaf as well:

Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped;

If we are serious about getting our lives on the right track then we really have to ‘be in it to win it’. We have to be courageous enough to see and hear what God has planned.
