KIDS IN MISSION: Making a Difference

Over three years ago Amy Hall had a vision for a kid’s program that met on a week-day evening  so that children unable to attend Sunday School could grow in faith, hope, and love. She wanted a program that was practice-based and gave children the opportunity to really do good works and make a difference in the world. Kid’s in Mission was born in the Fall of 2011 spanning ages from Pre-K to 6th Grade! Kid’s in Mission is one of Waretown UMC’s most successful ministries making a difference in the name of Jesus locally and globally. Here are just some of their accomplishments during the 2014-2015 program year:

Hoopathon raised $1500 for Imagine No Malaria in September.

Barnegat Nursing Home residents were visited during both Halloween & Christmas.

23 Coats were collected for neighbors in need

9 Shoeboxes were filled with toys for Samaritans Purse Operation Shoebox

$121 was collected for UNICEF

1 Flock of Chickens was purchased for a family in need in a developing country by crafting and selling ‘Christmas Egg’ ornaments.

166 Bookmarks made and sent to the Bezos Family Foundation promoting literacy in developing countries.

98 Non-Perishable Food Items collected for St. Stephens Food Pantry.

One Child received an operation to repair a cleft lip through ‘Rock A Smile’ fundraiser

1010 Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwiches  were made and distributed to the homeless while another 48 jars and 11 loaves of bread were donated to continue the effort through the Atlantic City Rescue Mission.

Over $700 to fight cancer through Relay for Life TEAM CALLIS through lemonade sales at Founder’s Day and the end of the year LIP SYNC CHALLENGE.

Kids in Mission are a powerful force for good and for God! We are proud to have them as our next generation of faithful Christians!
