For the next several days I’ll be leading a daily reading of Proverbs. It is a book in the Bible which offers both practical wisdom and eternal perspectives. Join with me each day in reading a chapter. I will offer a reflection on one verse or topic from each chapter.
Even though we don’t like to hear it… I’ve got to say… sometimes ‘less is more’.
We all have opportunities in our lives in which we can gain more by being even just a little bit dishonest. But, the truth is that honesty and righteousness are way more valuable than ‘selling out’ our integrity for some immediate personal gain.
When we stick to honesty and righteousness we maintain a clear conscience, we maintain our reputation, we maintain our integrity. In a moment of temptation it may seem like ‘selling out’ is no big deal…
…but there is no substitute for the ways of justice and honesty!
Better a little with righteousness
than much gain with injustice. (Proverbs 16:8)
