For the next several days I’ll be leading a daily reading of Proverbs. It is a book in the Bible which offers both practical wisdom and eternal perspectives. Join with me each day in reading a chapter. I will offer a reflection on one verse or topic from each chapter.
The wisdom of the proverbs make it clear that we must accept… value… treasure… direct our heart… cry out for insight… yell for understanding… regarding the ways of God in order to understand God and ourselves.
Most of us are too busy seeking that next job, next vacation, next purchase, next promotion, next opportunity to earnestly seek after God and God’s plan. And then we wonder why God doesn’t seem present in our lives!
Its hard to put the life of faith first… but for those who have done it, they will tell you it was the FIRST best thing they did.
if you accept my words
and treasure up my commandments within you,
making your ear attentive to wisdom
and inclining your heart to understanding;
if you indeed cry out for insight,
and raise your voice for understanding;
if you seek it like silver,
and search for it as for hidden treasures—
then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.(Proverbs 2:1-5)
