Proverbs 22

For the next several days I’ll be leading a daily reading of Proverbs. It is a book in the Bible which offers both practical wisdom and eternal perspectives. Join with me each day in reading a chapter. I will offer a reflection on one verse or topic from each chapter.

Proverbs 22

It may be old-fashioned…   but I think the most valuable thing we have is our ‘name’ our ‘reputation’. Think about it. If we are not trusted and respected by our spouse, family, friends, co-workers, or neighbors, then how in the world can we ever succeed in anything?

Too many people sell their ‘name’ for a quick buck, an affair, or to get ahead…   thinking “it doesn’t really matter that much”. But, it does.

A good name is more desirable than great riches;
   to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.
(Proverbs 22:1)
