Proverbs 26

For the next several days I’ll be leading a daily reading of Proverbs. It is a book in the Bible which offers both practical wisdom and eternal perspectives. Join with me each day in reading a chapter. I will offer a reflection on one verse or topic from each chapter.

Proverbs 26

We all know the saying: “fool me once, shame on YOU…   fool me twice, shame on ME”. Any one of us can make a mistake, get fooled, or travel down the wrong path. But, the key to living a life of wisdom is to NOT let it happen more than once.

Most of us have a few persistent mistakes that we keep on making. We all know what they are…   think about it…   these are those things that keep getting us into trouble day after day and year after year.

For most of us these are not ‘stupid’ mistakes…   but rather things that we continue to do because of bad habit, addiction, or other personal reasons.

One of the most often quotes verses of Scripture is this little disgusting tid-bit below…   it really puts it in a light we cannot ignore. If there is some ‘folly’ plaguing us…   we should get help now!

As a dog returns to its vomit,
   so fools repeat their folly.
(Proverbs 26:11)
