Proverbs 9

For the next several days I’ll be leading a daily reading of Proverbs. It is a book in the Bible which offers both practical wisdom and eternal perspectives. Join with me each day in reading a chapter. I will offer a reflection on one verse or topic from each chapter.

Proverbs 9

There are people who just don’t take any instruction. If you try and give them guidance or advice they ignore you, get mad, or worse…   they come after you.

I don’t know what it is about pointing out better ways that insults our human pride so much.

But, if we could put that pride aside and learn from everything and everyone while not being afraid to be ‘wrong’…   I think we can be more and more right!

Whoever corrects a mocker invites insults;
   whoever rebukes the wicked incurs abuse.
Do not rebuke mockers or they will hate you;
   rebuke the wise and they will love you.
Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still;
   teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.
(Proverbs 9:7-9)
