Re-Gift: Christmas Thought of the Day (25 of 25)

Merry Christmas!

There’s a lot of hype that goes into the Holiday Season and all of it is geared towards this one day…   JESUS’ BIRTHDAY! On behalf of all of us at Waretown United Methodist Church I would like to extend Christmas greetings of joy and peace to you and your family.

Christmas may be one day a year…   but the Christmas spirit can be lived and expressed each and every day. Compassion, generosity, contentment, fulfillment, service, faith, hope, and love were all God’s gifts to the world through the birth of Jesus…   and we can RE-GIFT these to one another, the stranger, and the poor among us.

There’s a lot of trouble in the world and so much of it is driven by selfishness, fear, greed, and hate. Jesus was born to show us a new way of life…   one based on love and sacrifice. Indeed, its how he said the world would know His followers:

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.  By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:34-35)
