One of those questions that is always asked is this… what, or who, is the Holy Spirit? If you are from the traditional church… the Holy spirit is characterized as a person. If you are more influenced by pop-culture, or pop-spirituality, the Holy Spirit is something like ‘the force’ from Star Wars.
The truth,,, I think… is somewhere in the middle. Like a person, the Holy Spirit is God, willing and working in everyday matters to bring about God’s plan. Like ‘the force’ the Holy Spirit is always everywhere… and able to ‘weigh in’ on any and all circumstances… with dramatic results.
In Acts 19 (verse 2)… new believers are asked if they know this Holy Spirit:
“Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you became believers?” They replied, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”
These believers… stuck in their ‘traditional’ beliefs of the time… only knew that they needed strength to grow, change, and make a difference… but they didn’t know how they could possibly do it. Many of us are in the same predicament… we have a vision for change towards greater wellness, but we don’t know how to make it happen.
Let’s start by looking for the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit. That might be the beginning of a wonderful change.
