A slack hand causes poverty,
but the hand of the diligent makes rich. (Proverbs 10:4)
Yesterday, we reflected on the warning that LOVE for money is a root of all kinds of evil (1 Timothy 6:6-12). Today I would like to say that respect for and responsible use of money is a root of all kinds of good!
We live in a culture that values hard work, innovation, commitment, and vision. The ‘American Dream’ , for all it’s problems and shortcomings, DOES inspire us to work hard to achieve our dreams.
As we have been reflecting since January 1st, positive ‘momentum’ for our lives is achieved through hard work, discipline and dedication. These are not new concepts. The quote from the Bible above shows that from ancient times wise people have understood that to make money and enjoy any measure of financial stability, one must be willing to work hard and stay committed.
We all have money problems from time to time… and sometimes they have nothing to do with how hard we work. But the first step to success of any kind is making sure that our ‘diligence’ is sure.
